Important license information

  • The free start-up/hobbyist licenses give you access to Fusion 360 for a 1-year period. You can renew your license annually. Small businesses making less than $100,000 a year (or the equivalent) can use this license. Hobbyist's using Fusion 360 for non-commercial purposes are also allowed
  • Education licenses come in two versions: individual licenses and licenses for administrators in educational institutions.

Note: If you already registered for a hobbyist/start-up license or an education license, download and reinstall Fusion 360 from your Autodesk Account.

Register for a start-up or hobbyist license

A start-up or hobbyist license is an annual license intended for users in a company, start-up, or home business that generates less than $100,000 per year. It is also intended for individuals using Fusion 360 for personal non-commercial projects (per the Web Services Terms of Services).

To register for a start-up or hobbyist license:

  1. Go to Fusion 360 for Hobbyists and Makers and select Get Started Now.
  2. Review the Terms of Services to see if you qualify.
  3. Click Create an account or sign in to your existing Autodesk Account.
  4. Under Products & Services in Autodesk Account, select Download now next to Fusion 360 and run the installer.
  5. When you start Fusion 360, sign in using your Autodesk Account email and password. Fusion 360 automatically detects your start-up or hobbyist license when you sign in.
    Note: If you get a message that you already have a license, then you are currently registered as a hobbyist or start-up. In your Autodesk Account, select Download next to Fusion 360 in the Products and Services section.

Register for a student/education license

Students, educators, and academic institutions are eligible for a free, three-year subscription.

To register for an education license:

  1. Visit the Fusion 360 education page.
  2. Sign in to your Autodesk Account, or create an Autodesk Account. If you're not sure whether you already have an education license for Fusion 360, go to Autodesk Account to see if it's listed under Products & Services.
  3. Select Get Access and run the Fusion installer.
  4. When you start Fusion 360, sign in using your Autodesk Account email and password. Fusion 360 automatically detects your license type when you sign in.

  1. Sign in to your Autodesk Account, or create an Autodesk Account.
  2. Under Products & Services, select Get Access next to Fusion 360 and run the Fusion installer.

If you’re an eligible user, you can request a 1-year renewal with Autodesk customer service.

Reinstall Fusion 360

If you registered for a license previously and have to reinstall Fusion 360, go to Autodesk Account and click the Fusion 360 download link in the Products and Services section. You don’t need to register a new account or re-register an existing account to reinstall.

  1. Create an education account if you don't already have one, or sign in to the Autodesk education community if you do.
  2. Review the installation instructions.
  3. Install Fusion 360 from the Fusion 360 for Educational Institutions site.

Change an education license to a commercial license

If you previously associated an email address or username in Autodesk Account with an education license, you can't reuse those credentials for a Fusion start-up or commercial license. In order to use a commercial license on that account, the education license must be removed from your account. To request this, please contact support.
